Bermuda Brief

Most of our members don't have cars, others travel by bus, taxi, or maybe motorcycles (small, almost moped type).  So when there is a youth activity or someone needs a ride to church the "Toaster" (our van) gets put to good use.  It reminds me of the children's song, "The wheels on the bus, go round and round". It is an absolute pleasure to host our members,  an opportunity to get better acquainted, to laugh and enjoy each others company.  One such event was a youth activity to the beach, when we finished we loaded up seven kids, two beach chairs, two umbrellas, a regular size cooler, and a small gas barbeque grill.  To say we were rockin' and rollin' would be a great understatement!  We had a ball, I think our crew did as well.  Thanks Pauline and Galvin for a wonderful activity!

We received this great picture of our cousins serving missions in Africa.   Cousin Pam and her husband, Steve and our cousin Shawn's son, Brandon.  Bart's brothers and their wives are both serving at this time as well, Boyd and Bobbi in  San Antonio, Texas  and Byron and JoAnne in Morristown, New Jersey.  We are very proud of them and love them all.

We've not had nearly enough rain here.  People are having to purchase water at this time.  As you can imagine fresh water is at a premium on an island.  But a week or so ago we did have a great rainy day as you can see.  Forgive the awkwardness of the video, I was trying to stay dry while taking it.   Today we'll pray for rain.

One nice day the Elders decided to study outside.  Don't they all look very Bermudian?  They are good men who work hard at bringing souls to Christ. 

S hawn and Lisa, were good enough to send pictures of an Eagle project that Matthew has been working on.  It involved sprucing up the old steamer and adding an historical sign for it, as it resides in Smith Park.  This steamer represents all our family heritage.  What Matthew did was a reminder to all of us to watch over and care for the gifts of our ancestry.  Those folks that came here and worked so hard, giving us a means to provide temporally for our families and the testimony to inspire us spiritually. We think often of home and when doing so, are reminded of how much we've to be grateful for.  Thanks Shawn, Lisa, and Matthew!

One Sunday the "toaster" became the lounging place for a lazy little lizard.  He's quite cute and very much enjoyed laying around in the sun, but he didn't like having his picture taken.  It had me thinking of seven grandsons who would have loved trying to catch him.  How about it Aidan?

Elder Tremble and Elder Nackos at Zone conference. We were excited to try to join the New York South Zone conference, even thought we are sitting in Bermuda.  These great young Elders being so tech savvy set us up on Skype.  We were able to watch and listen.  We even moved the screen up and ate lunch while they finished up with the presentation.  We thought we were so sly, a little perk of being in the apartment............we really did appreciate being a part of things.
